New Alternative Fuel Vehicles on the Market

NTEA’s Technical Services Department is receiving numerous calls regarding alternative fuel vehicles. In spite of the drop in oil prices, companies are looking for alternative fuel vehicles to help meet their corporate emissions requirements. Both Ford and GM recently announced additional vehicles with alternative fuel and/or factory conversion capabilities.

Key Details

• Ford revealed the 2016 model year F-150 pickup will be available with a 5.0L gaseous fuel prep engine, which will allow Qualified Vehicle Modifiers (QVMs) that offer alternative fuel conversion to use compressed natural gas (CNG) or autogas (propane power).
• In addition, Ford announced its new 2016 model year SuperDuty will have a gaseous fuel prep 6.8L engine option, available for QVM conversion to CNG or autogas.          
• GM recently added the 2016 model year Silverado 3500HD chassis-cab in a bi-fuel configuration that allows the truck to operate on either CNG or gasoline. The bi-fuel conversion can be ordered through GM.
